These are 8 month old littermates.  As you can see the fawn has growth & immune problems.  He is the one that lives on my property.  The other left at 7 weeks old.  What is all  of this doing to our children in Midlothian?

This is a waste of taxpayers money.  It is VERY coincidential that when The TCEQ was going to do monitoring in the Midlothian area that TXI annouced that on Oct. 13th they were going to shut down the hazardous waste kilns due to the economy.  So "YES" the TCEQ & Midlothian can say that there is no air problem with the air.  I feel that the TCEQ should wait until TXI starts those kilns back up and than do the testing.  Is everyone afraid of a massive lawsuit, if the true picture of what is happening in Midlothian came out?

Even Gerdau reduced emmisons when the air monitors showed up.

This website is dedicated in memory of my late husband Cecil R. Booth and my 75 dogs that have passed since moving to Midlothian, TX. I would like to share some of my experiences, documentation, & opinions about Midlothian.

If you enjoy the fresh country air in the evenings & weekends of a sulfur odor, a metallic odor, burnt plastics, a chemistry lab and unexplained odors than Midlothian is your city to live in.

I hope this website can help your family makes a wise decision if you really want to take the chance/risk and live in Midlothian. Just do a Google search on health effects for all these metals, emissions from cement kilns & steel mill. There is a lot of data on the internet WHY you would not want to live close to one of these plants. For me what was to be our forever dream home & land has been a nightmare from HELL !!!!!

Shortly after moving to Midlothian in 1988 our nightmare begun. Located across Hwy. 67 is TXI and Chaparral Steel. TXI got a permit to burn Hazardous Waste. Since than we have 3 cement kilns & 1 steel mill within a 6 mile radius. North Texas burns tires, Holcim burns Solid Waste, tires & petcoke (shortly), TXI burns Liquid Hazardous Waste & tires (shortly), and Chaparral Steel, melts down metal and makes steel beams. Most people would think it is safe to live near these plants as our government; EPA & TCEQ have set regulations to protect our air, soil, and water. WRONG!!!!!! It is Big Industry & Big Money = POWER & Control over our local, state and federal officials !!!! Over the years the residents & environmental groups have spoken their concerns about all the new permits that have been granted to these plants. Cement kilns are considered recyclers and therefore do not have to comply with the same regulations that commercial hazardous waste incinerators have to. How much more industrial air pollution can Midlothian handle?  How much more heavy toxic metals,  heavy metals, VOC's, Dioxin's,  CKD (cement kiln dust), & PM 2.5 can Midlothian residents breathe?
How are we exposed to all of this?
 
Why don't I move? For years we have been promised by the TCEQ that is was going to be better. We were dumb enough to believe them. Our problem was that we took all of our money and paid off our house & land. We also wanted to know the truth. Now it is too late. My dogs, soil, water, dust and myself have high levels of toxic metals. When you list your property for sale you have to disclose any contamination. Would you purchase my property? Many residents here are employed by these plants or an affiliate. Would you jeopardize your job and speak out? If you move here and started to have health problems would you tell the new buyer of your home? The saying is "Just keep your mouth shut and move on". Many of the real estate agents in this city know of the problems that exist. Will they come forth and tell you why that person moved out of Midlothian or why the house is in foreclosure. Will they tell you that the neighbors are suffering from health problems since moving to Midlothian? NO !!!! There is one real estate agent that handles the purchase of properties for these companies.

Before moving here do your research!!!!! Talk to the neighbors; ask them if they have any health problems since moving to Midlothian. Ask how many have moved out of the neighborhood? Ask if they smell odors in the evenings or weekends? Make some visits to the area in the evenings or weekends and see if you smell anything. Is there a school located near one of these plants? You spend the money for a home inspection. Have the soil & dust tested for any metals before making a purchase.

Just recently I made several posts on www.city-data.com about Midlothian, TX.  I also included this website in my posts.  They have deleted most of my posts.  Many posts on that site have links to websites but they have chosen to delete mine because they do not want the public to know what is happening in Midlothian, TX.  They claimed that it was advertising.  A person who is an environmental consultant from Austin had my posts deleted.  Who's payroll is he/she on?  In my opinion government & big industry will do whatever it takes to make sure that the truth is not disclosed.  Does the truth about Midlothian hurt that much?

A lawsuit has been filed against TXI & Chaparral/Gerdau.  It is really sad that they are willing to spend millions on attorney fees.

It has been rumored that Safe Tire was purchased for $1.3 million CASH!!!.  It was purchased by 3351 S. Wyatt LLC.  The initial registered agent of the company is Capital Services.  The organizer of the company is J. Gregory Holloway.  He is an attorney for Thompson & Knight LLP.  This is the attorney firm for both TXI & Chaparral/Gerdau.  The manager of the company is Robert Wallace who is an attorney for Gerdau.  

So who really purchased Safe Tire? 

You paid $1.3 million for 24 acres & this building that is falling apart.  Let's be fair about all of this.     



  TXI violating their permit.  Did they get fined by the TCEQ?  NO !!!!


 Chaparral Steel.  We must have had some rusty metal ???? or is it bombs from our military or radio-active material ?    

   Holcim violated their permit for over 2 years and just got a slap on the wrist by the TCEQ.  What about all the residents that had to breathe all of this !!!!!
